Peace Research & Education Trust (PRET) is a charity set up to provide advice and information on the causes and effects of war and violence and peaceful resolution. To build peace, we need to understand the conditions for its growth, and develop the skills to overcome obstacles without recourse to self-perpetuating violence.

Crucially, the coming generation needs to learn that neither violence nor threats of violence are the means for achieving a just or lasting peace.

The Peace Research and Education Trust is currently supporting the work of the Peace Pledge Union in its Project on Conscientious Objectors.

More than 25 CO's from the Second World War have now been interviewed on video and work is proceeding on transferring edited parts of the interviews onto disc and on writing the script. Publication of the results of the Project are expected during 2008.
